The MT Summit 2025 took place in Geneva, Switzerland from June 23rd to 27th 2025. The ISMT group was well represented through workshops, presentations, chairing sessions, and culminating with a keynote address. Furthermore, it maked the announcement that ISMT will organise the EAMT 2026 conference and host it here in Tilburg.


đź§Ş Monday 23rd June: GITT Workshop

The third edition of the GITT workshop was co-organised by Dr. Eva Vanmassenhove and featured a presentation by Chiara Manna:

🤟 Tuesday 24th June: AT4SSL Workshop

The AT4SSL workshop (co-organised by Dr. Dimitar Shterionov) featured Lisa Lepp presenting:

“User Involvement in the Research and Development Life Cycle of Sign Language Machine Translation Systems”

Both workshops gathered over 25 attendees each and were marked by vibrant discussions and new insights.


🎤 Main Conference Highlights

During the main conference:

  • The highlight of the conference was Dr. Eva Vanmassenhove, who delivered a keynote talk to the ca. 300 attendees. The title of the talk is:

    “Losing Our Tail – Again: Unnatural Selection and Translation Technologies”

    This thought-provoking keynote exposed the blank spots of GenAI for translation and for language in general. The reception was amazing and it motivated constructive discussions on various related topics. The keynote is featured in a pre-print on on arxiv.

  • Dr. Dimitar Shterionov chaired the poster boaster session on Thursday.

📣 Announcing EAMT 2026 in Tilburg!

To close the event, Dr. Shterionov, Dr. Vanmassenhove, and Ms. Manna announced that the EAMT 2026 conference will be hosted in Tilburg by the ISMT group.
